Excelsior Cares serves to expand the College’s mission of service to the underserved by assisting with the critical needs of the community via shared time (volunteerism), shared talent (skills), and shared treasure (financial contributions).
Dedicated to the belief that a strong social fabric creates opportunity, our core community service initiatives focus on health and wellness, lifelong education, diversity and inclusion, veterans/military, and social and economic justice.
We welcome requests for volunteer help, event sponsorships, and speaking engagements focusing on our core initiatives.
Excelsior College is a private, nonprofit, regionally accredited, distance learning institution focused on removing the obstacles to the educational goals of working adults.
The College has nearly 38,000 students and while we don’t have a resident student body, our staff and faculty volunteers are committed to make a difference in the lives of residents of our larger community.
We support employee volunteerism beyond mere words. Official policy provides each employee with two days of paid time off to participate in volunteer and community service activities during normal work days.
In 2015, our employees volunteered 479 hours to more than 25 nonprofit causes.
